A Ukrainian ghost story that can give real-life support to Ukrainians.
Thursday November 21st, 2024 is National Dignity and Freedom Day in Ukraine.
Over two years since Russia invaded Ukraine, the war continues. Ukraine still needs our help – more than ever in fact. But the world’s attention has been turning elsewhere.
Yet the people of Ukraine continue to astound the world in the way they keep fighting back. Two years ago, the war in Ukraine inspired me to write a story about Ukrainian resistance. It’s a ghost story set during the Second World War, but it’s also deliberately relevant to what’s happening in Ukraine today.
The story is called The Lake That Never Freezes. It’s the very first tale in Disturbing the Water, my book of themed original ghost stories. Each story is set around water and many of the protagonists are anglers. However, they’re not fishing stories, but ghost stories – you don’t have to know anything about fishing to enjoy them. But if you do know about Ukraine and want to help Ukrainians affected by the struggle against Russia, please consider buying a copy.
Profits from all new copies (e-book and paperback) bought on Amazon on Thursday November 21st, 2024 will go to British-Ukrainian Aid, a registered charity supplying humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
So buying a copy on that day is a great way to help Ukraine – and get an interesting read as well.
